Andre Onana Man Utd transfer update as player's representatives 'in talks'

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana is believed to be in discussions over a permanent exit from Old Trafford next summer. The Cameroonian international is currently on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor, where he has made a strong impression in the Turkish Super Lig, suffering defeat in only three of his 16 appearances.

The club currently occupies third spot in the table, trailing Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, with Onana proving instrumental since his arrival. United approved the temporary switch following the arrival of Senne Lammens at Old Trafford, which saw the former Inter Milan shot-stopper slip down the hierarchy.

However, according to The Daily Mail, his former employers Inter are holding discussions about a potential return to Serie A, with Onana's representatives travelling to Italy to explore a possible move back to the San Siro.

The report suggests, though, that the Cameroonian hasn't abandoned hope of returning to Old Trafford and wrestling back the number one jersey from Lammens.

Despite this, it's anticipated that Onana will depart Old Trafford this summer, having fallen out of favour following a series of costly errors.

United parted with £47.2million to bring Onana from Inter Milan during the summer of 2023. The 'keeper had guided the Italian side to the Champions League Final, where they were narrowly defeated by Manchester City.

He also played a key role in Inter's triumphs in the Italian Cup and Super Cup during his spell at the San Siro, where he remains highly respected by his former employers.

Inter's current first-choice keeper, Yann Sommer, is anticipated to depart the club this summer, and reports suggest the Serie A giants have opened discussions with Onana about a potential return.

The shot-stopper is believed to still own property in Milan, though his wages could prove a sticking point after receiving a salary increase during his loan switch to Turkey.

Onana still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his existing Old Trafford contract, and reports indicate United may need to negotiate a settlement for any transfer to materialise.

Onana's situation isn't the only question mark hanging over United this summer, with ongoing uncertainty surrounding the club's manager.

Michael Carrick has made a strong impression since stepping up as interim boss, securing consecutive victories against Manchester City and Arsenal to propel them back into the top four.
