The Chase fans have called for one professional quizzer to be scrapped from the line-up after suffering another embarrassing round on the show. During Tuesday night's instalment (January 27) of the ITV quiz show, Bradley Walsh returned to the helm, welcoming four new players onto the teatime show. He introduced Becci, Matthew, Shenagh, and Toby to the viewers before they put their general knowledge to the test.

This week, the quartet went up against Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, who certainly brought his A-game. First up to the podium was Becci, who struggled to perform during the cash-builder round.

And the cracks started to show moments later when she went head-to-head with the Chase star, who caught her out within a matter of minutes. Hoping not to follow in her footsteps was teammate Matthew, who also struggled in the cash-builder.

After consulting with his team, he took the low offer of £1,000 and somehow managed to secure his place in the final round after a nail-biting one-question shoot-out. Hoping to keep the winning streak going was Shenagh, who wowed viewers with her general knowledge.

During the cash-builder round, she managed to rake in an impressive £5,000, which she played for in the face-to-face round, bringing their total up to £6,000. Finally, Toby took on the challenge after earning a respectable £4,000 in the cash-builder round.

But after consulting with the team, he decided to go against their advice and accept the higher offer of £84,000. After just four questions, he was caught by the chaser, leaving just Shenagh and Matthew to face Shaun in the final chase.

After suffering another blow, the team put their heads together in the final round and correctly answered 12 questions in two minutes. But Shaun received a wave of backlash from viewers after he struggled to catch the team of two.

With just seconds to spare, the pro-quizzer finally caught them out, which sparked fury from viewers online, many of whom called for him to be replaced. One user fumed: "That was really bad from Shaun. Jenny got 12 questions with 1 minute left yesterday," as another agreed: "Shaun had another absolutely horrendous day at the office."

A third suggested: "About time they started changing the Chasers on the show to keep it fresh. Shaun would be the first to go, just not up to it anymore." A fourth chimed in with: "Embarrassing from Shaun, anyone else would retire."

A fifth gushed: "I do love Shaun."

The Chase airs on weekdays from 5pm on ITV1, or catch up on ITVX.
