UP Warriorz announced that England wicketkeeper-batter Amy Jones has been brought in as a replacement for injured Phoebe Litchfield for the remainder of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).

Litchfield, who is the team’s leading run-getter, has been ruled out of the tournament due to an injury, the team revealed on Wednesday. The Australian is also among the top run-scorers this season with 243 runs in six matches.

Jones, who has featured in 125 T20Is and has scored 1,666 runs, will join the Warriorz for Rs. 50 lakh.

The Warriorz enter a crucial stage in the race to the WPL playoffs with four teams firmly in contention for the last two spots. UPW currently has just two wins from six matches and a poor NRR of -0.769.

The Meg Lanning-led side will face Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Delhi Capitals, and will require big wins to climb the standings.
