Shahbaz Sharif’s government has faced opposition in its own country for joining the Gaza Peace Committee of US President Donald Trump. Meanwhile, the flood of memes has started on social media. One netizen wrote, ‘Bring back Osama Bin Laden. Make him chairman of the peace committee.’

Pakistan itself is a ‘hotbed of terrorism’. Al Qaeda founder bin Laden was hiding in Abbottabad, Pakistan. There he was killed by US forces. So many people have raised the question on what logic such a state was invited to join the peace community. In the words of another netizen, “This committee was established by the US to establish peace in Gaza and the Middle East after the war. But Pakistan is known as a country that breaks peace.” If an invited country is interested in membership in the Gaza Peace Community, that country must pay a fee of 1 billion. Many are raising questions here. The back of Pakistan’s economy is broken. How did they get membership with this huge amount of money? In the words of one netizen, “People in Pakistan don’t get two meals a day. How did they get so much money?”

Note that Pakistan has always been a supporter of Palestine. That is why Islamabad does not recognize Israel as a state. There is also a dispute between the two countries. Israel raised objections to Pakistan joining Trump’s Gaza peace committee. Although it did not last in the wash. Responding to Trump’s invitation, Pakistan has joined the ‘Board of Peace’.
