Sports :The fourth match of the five-match T20 series between India and New Zealand was played on 28 January at the Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. In this match, New Zealand performed brilliantly and defeated India by 50 runs. Although the Indian team had already won the series, but with this defeat New Zealand made its presence felt in the series and made the score 3-1.
A target like a mountain of 216 runs
New Zealand lost the toss and batted first and scored 215 runs for seven wickets. The beginning of the Kiwi team was very aggressive. Tim Seifert and Devon Conway made a quick partnership of 100 runs for the first wicket. Seifert put pressure on the Indian bowlers by scoring a half-century in less balls, while Conway also scored runs in an aggressive manner. India made some comeback in the middle order, but Daryl Mitchell’s brilliant innings in the last overs took New Zealand to a big score.
Mixed efforts of Indian bowlers
For India, Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh took two wickets each. Jasprit Bumrah also tried to control the run rate by taking wickets at crucial times, but the pitch proved helpful for the batsmen and the Kiwi team was successful in reaching 215 runs.
India’s poor start spoiled the game
The Indian team, which came to chase the target of 216 runs, had a very bad start. India lost its two important wickets till the score of only 9 runs. Abhishek Sharma was out without opening the account, while captain Suryakumar Yadav also returned to the pavilion cheaply. Sanju Samson’s poor form continued and he once again failed to play a big innings. There were expectations from Hardik Pandya, but he too was out early.
Shivam Dubey’s explosive innings
When half of the Indian team was out for 82 runs, Shivam Dubey presented a display of aggressive batting. He scored 65 runs in just 23 balls, which included many brilliant sixes. Dubey completed his half-century in just 15 balls and made the match exciting for some time. However, as soon as he was run out, India’s hopes of victory almost ended.
Disciplined performance by Kiwi bowlers
New Zealand’s bowlers maintained the pressure. Captain Mitchell Santner took important wickets and controlled the run rate. The Indian lower order could not last long and the entire team was bundled out for 165 runs in 18.4 overs.
The fifth and last match is on 31st January…
Despite this defeat, India has already won the T20 series. Now the fifth and last match of the series will be played on January 31 in Thiruvananthapuram. This match will be a chance for New Zealand to save honor and for India to end the series with a win.
