Popular singer Arijit Singh recently announced that he will step away from playback singing, leaving fans emotional and reflective. Over the years, he has gifted listeners countless songs that continue to be cherished across the globe. Among his many successful collaborations, one that truly stood out was with Salman Khan . The duo has worked on several projects together, delivering a mix of hit dance numbers and soulful romantic tracks.
Dance and romance that won heartsOne of their most popular recent collaborations came in Tiger 3 with the song Leke Prabhu Ka Naam. The track highlighted Salman Khan’s stylish screen presence and carried a vibrant, celebratory mood. Its beats, choreography and charm quickly turned it into a party staple.
The same film also featured a softer track, Ruaan. The romantic number leaned heavily into emotion and longing, with Arijit’s voice bringing quiet intensity and allowing the song to resonate deeply with listeners who prefer melody over spectacle.
A patriotic turn with emotional depthAdding another dimension to their collaborations is Maatrubhumi from the upcoming film Battle of Galwan . The song stands out for its patriotic tone and emotional weight. Composed by Himesh Reshammiya and sung by Arijit Singh alongside Shreya Ghoshal , the track blends stirring music with powerful visuals.
Surprise announcementThe collaboration continues with Hum Aapke Bina from Sikandar, a romantic number driven by emotion and yearning. Once again, it showcases how seamlessly Salman’s screen persona pairs with Arijit’s vocals.
However, on January 27, Arijit surprised fans with a heartfelt post on X. He wrote, “Hello, Happy New Year to all. I want to thank you for giving me so much love all these years as listeners. I am happy to announce that I am not gonna be taking any new assignments as a playback vocalist from now on. I am calling it off. It was a wonderful journey.”
Clarifying his future path, he added, “God has been really kind to me. I am a fan of good music and in future will be learning more and do more on my own as a small little artist.”
Reassuring fans, Arijit also said, “I still have to finish some pending commitments and will finish them. So you might get some releases this year. Just to be clear, I won’t stop making music.”
