In a gruesome incident in North-East Delhi’s Bhajanpura, three minor boys have been accused of gang-raping a 6-year-old girl on January 18, 2026, at around 7 pm. According to Delhi Police and India Today, Hindustan Times and other reports, the boys, aged around 10, 13 and 14 (ages vary slightly in reports: 10–16), took the girl (often luring her with food) to a nearby vacant building or rooftop, where they sexually assaulted her, and according to some reports, gagged and tied her up.
The girl returned home bleeding profusely and in distress, initially telling her family that she had fallen. When further interrogated he told about the attack. Her mother immediately took her to the police, who registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.
Two of the accused minors were captured: one (reportedly 10 years old) was handed over to the police by his own mother after seeing the condition of the victim. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board. The third accused is still absconding; Police suspect that he has fled to Bihar (probably with family) and have formed several teams to find him, examining CCTV footage and local intelligence.
The girl had a medical checkup at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where she was treated and counselled. It is being told that due to serious injuries she is unable to walk and is in shock. His statement was recorded as per legal protocol for minors.
Family and neighbors protested demanding quick justice. The police stressed on strictly following procedures in cases of minors. The investigation is ongoing amid anger among people regarding the safety of children.
