A 23-year-old woman has been arrested after a knife incident at an Asda in Leeds. West Yorkshire police were called to the store on Killingbeck Road shortly after 4.30pm on Tuesday, January 28, following reports of a customer making threats while in possession of a knife.
The woman was detained by security staff before officers arrived at the scene. She was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place. She was taken to hospital with a minor injury to her hand. Another woman also suffered a minor hand injury during the incident, police confirmed. Officers from the Leeds CID team are continuing to investigate the incident.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said: "At 4.36pm yesterday officers were called to Asda on Killingbeck Drive, Leeds, to reports a customer was making threats with a knife.
"Security staff detained a woman aged 23 and she was arrested by officers on suspicion of assault and possession of a bladed article in a public place, she's been taken to hospital with a minor injury to her hand.
"A woman also suffered a minor injury to her hand.
"Enquiries remain ongoing by Leeds CID."
