*Warning - this article contains major spoilers for the Bridgerton novels.*

Bridgerton, which could be getting some exciting spin-offs, is back on Netflix with the first four episodes of season four following the love story of Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) and Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha). The Cinderella-inspired narrative sees Benedict at his mother's masquerade ball, where he meets a mysterious woman in silver.

After the woman admitted she did not know how to dance, Benedict took her off to a private part of the gardens to teach her a few steps. During an intimate moment, the pair fell for one another instantly, but the woman was forced to flee the party when the clock struck midnight.

With only one of her gloves to remember her by, Benedict was determined to track down the woman who had stolen his heart. Little did he know the partygoer was not a member of high society, and she was in fact a maid, working for a family who did not respect her.

Unable to make the connection between the two personas, Benedict remained completely in the dark that Sophie was the woman he had fallen for all along. As only half of the season has arrived, Sophie and Benedict's ultimate fate is yet to be disclosed.

That being said, there is plenty of evidence in Quinn's novels to suggest the couple will get their happy ending after all.

In An Offer From a Gentleman, the plot follows Sophie Beckett, an Earl's daughter who ends up serving her spiteful stepmother. Sophie sneaks into Lady Bridgerton's renowned masquerade ball, where she comes across Benedict.

Unfortunately for her, she must depart at midnight in order to avoid detection by her stepmother, leaving Benedict searching for her. In the books, Benedict and Sophie marry and start a family.

However, their wedding does not take place on the page, with Benedict telling Sophie: "In my heart, you are my wife." When they next appear in Colin and Penelope's story, Benedict and Sophie are already married.

With this in mind, it seems the TV adaptation may well follow the narrative of the novels. Confirmation of this also appeared to come during an interview with Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony.

He said his character features in a "wedding scene", telling The Hollywood Reporter he felt a "real sense of brotherly pride" while working on the show and accidentally let slip that he had filmed "a wedding on a Monday morning".

Thompson and Ha previously opened up about the blossoming relationship between Benedict and Sophie ahead of season four airing, with Ha telling W Magazine: "Sophie and Benedict go on a journey of getting to know each other by playing this cat-and-mouse game, and because we shot chronologically, we got to form a deeper bond that way, too.

"There's something about Luke where you feel a sense of ease, you're quite relaxed, and you're open to letting things unfold in real time." On what Sophie sees in Benedict that others don't, she added: "She sees someone who is of noble rank, but who's also scared to accept himself.

"In that way, she sees herself in him, which is why they connect. That otherness quality bonds them. She sees his imperfections, but also loves them."

Bridgerton season 4 part 1 is on Netflix, with part two arriving on February 26
