Australian Open 2026: Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz clinched a commanding victory over World No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the semi-final at the ongoing Australian Open 2025 on Friday, January 30.

Carlos Alcaraz Storms Into His Maiden Australia Open Final

In the high-octane semi-final clash at the Rod Laver Arena, World No. 1 sealed a magnificent 6-4, 7-6, 6-7, 6-7, 7-5 win over Zverev to reach the Australian Open 2026 finals.

After five hours and 27 minutes on the court, it was Alcaraz who had the last laugh, surviving a five-set thriller in the semi-finals. It was also the longest semi-final in the history of the Australian Open.

Following his commanding win over the World No. 3 on Friday, January 30, the 22-year-old has reached his first Australian Open final. The Spaniard sustained cramps, which made it hard for him to fight against the German. But Alcaraz didn't lose hope and made a comeback in the fifth set.

Alcaraz dominated the first two sets in the semi-finals against Zverev. However, from the late third set, the Spaniard started to feel discomfort in his upper right leg. Alcaraz was close to clinching a win much before with a three-set win, but the injury made it tough for him.

Zverev took his chances and clinched the third and fourth sets over Alcaraz. However, the Spaniard didn't lose hope and clinched the fifth and final set 7-5.

Carlos Alcaraz One Win Away From Scripting History

The 22-year-old is just one win away from etching his name in the history books. Alcaraz needs to win the upcoming final match to become the youngest man to complete the Career Grand Slam.

In the finals at the Australian Open 2026, Alcaraz will face the winner of the second semi-final between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic. The men's singles final at the Australian Open 2026 will be played on Sunday, February 1.
