Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high-level roundtable meeting with global energy giants on the occasion of ‘India Energy Week’ (IEW) 2026. In this 9th PM Roundtable meeting, he presented the picture of India’s rapidly growing energy sector and invited the world’s top companies to invest here.
PM Modi, while addressing the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of global companies, presented India as a trustworthy and reliable partner. He said that amidst global uncertainties, India is a stable and strong link of development.
Immense investment opportunities
During the meeting, the Prime Minister presented a blueprint of the huge investment potential in India’s energy sector. He said that there is scope for investment of about 100 billion dollars in exploration and production alone. Additionally, there are investment opportunities worth $87 billion in refining and petrochemicals and $72 billion in natural gas.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that CEOs of 27 global and Indian companies like TotalEnergies, BP, Vitol, Vedanta, ReNew and Trafigura participated in this important dialogue.
world’s third largest economy
Prime Minister Modi stressed that India is moving rapidly towards becoming the third largest economy in the world. He said that India’s role will now be decisive in maintaining the balance of global energy demand and supply.
Consolidating his point, he said that India imports from 40 countries for its energy needs and is procuring LNG from 18 different sources. On the other hand, India is also exporting petroleum products to more than 150 countries, which shows its growing potential.
Global CEOs present at the meeting expressed deep confidence in India’s economic policies and pace of development. He expressed his desire to expand his business and deepen investments in India. PM Modi finally stressed on innovation and cooperation and said that India is ready to work together with the world across the entire energy value chain.
