Manchester United haven't been afraid to sign Premier League-proven talent in recent seasons. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo both joined the Red Devils in the summer, signing from Wolves and Brentford, respectively.
With the increase in quality across the league, it's no surprise to see big clubs shopping closer to home, and the chances are United will do similar again in the near future. They could even look to snap up bargains by signing players from clubs relegated at the end of the season, most notably Wolves and West Ham. Express Sport have picked out three players who could be available at a cut price in the summer.
Mateus Mane - Wolves
One of the rare moments of joy during what's been a dismal season for Wolves. Mateus Mane has emerged as one of the breakout stars of the Premier League season, with the 18-year-old having scored two goals and registered one assist. Should Wolves go down, he will almost certainly attract attention from top-flight clubs, with United likely to be among the suitors. What's more, given that Mane moved to Manchester as a teenager, he already has a connection with the local community, which could work in United's favour.
Mateus Fernandes - West Ham
Mane's namesake, Mateus Fernandes, has also been catching the eye with his performances for West Ham. It's no secret that midfield is an area that United are looking to improve, but options in the market have certainly been limited. The 21-year-old would likely cost a bomb if West Ham were to remain in the Premier League, but potential relegation to the second tier would open the door to a more favourable deal. Plus, Portuguese midfielders called Fernandes have quite the history at Old Trafford!

Joao Gomes - Wolves
Meanwhile, Joao Gomes could represent another midfield option for the 20-time English champions. Gomes' performances have been some of the more impressive showings from a Wolves player this term, with United having already been linked to his signature. With Casemiro heading for the exit door when his contract expires at the end of the season, Gomes, who can play the holding role too, could represent the perfect replacement.
