Confident Group Chairman CJ Roy died, police investigation made big revelations regarding income tax.

Karnataka: Dr. C.J., Chairman of Confident Group, a leading company in real estate and other sectors in Bengaluru. Roy committed suicide on 30 January. This incident happened at his bungalow or office on Langford Road, where he was found injured by a bullet. He was immediately taken to a private hospital and then to Narayana Hospital in HSR Layout, but doctors declared him dead.

Chairman scared of Income Tax Department raid

The case started on the same morning, when the Income Tax Department raided several locations associated with the Confident Group. According to reports, the raid was based on allegations of tax evasion or disproportionate assets.

Dr. Roy had reached the office during the raid. Sources say that due to pressure or stress he shot himself. However, the police have not yet officially confirmed this and the investigation is ongoing. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Akshay Hakay has confirmed the incident.

Who was Dr. C.J. Roy?

Dr. C.J. Roy was a native of Kochi, Kerala. He founded Confident Group, which is a big name in real estate in South India. The company runs projects in many states including Karnataka and Kerala. The group’s net worth has increased significantly in recent years. Apart from this, he was also associated with the entertainment sector.

He produced big films like the Malayalam film ‘Casanova’ (2012), in which actor Mohanlal was in the lead role. Confident Group also title sponsored some seasons of the Malayalam TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss Malayalam’.

Many questions in police investigation

The police are now investigating the entire matter in depth. The reason for the suicide, whether any suicide note was found or not, and whether it has any direct connection with the Income Tax raid are all part of the investigation. The company was already facing some tax- legal matters, such as income tax appeal and hearing in the High Court. At present the police have said that all the information will be revealed only after the investigation is completed.
