Bidar: Medical Education Minister Dr Sharan Prakash R Patil on Saturday (January 31) held a meeting with doctors and administrative officials of the Bidar Institute of Medical Sciences (BRIMS) to address complaints related to mismanagement and infrastructure issues.
The meeting was held at the BRIMS auditorium, where the minister listened to the problems faced by medical officers and administrators. He directed the heads of all medical departments to prepare and submit a detailed list of their requirements along with funding demands at the earliest.
Dr Patil said a proposal would be presented in the upcoming Budget session to seek special funds for the overall development of BRIMS.
He instructed Public Works Department (PWD) executive engineers to immediately repair the emergency operation theatre. He also ordered urgent repairs to ongoing works related to water leakage and water accumulation on the ground floor of the hospital building.
The minister said salaries of temporary and contract staff have been paid up to December and steps will be taken to release the remaining pending payments. He also announced that an agreement is being finalised with Jayadeva Hospital in Kalaburagi for heart-related treatments, and a cath lab will be started at BRIMS.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Shivanand B Karale, BRIMS Director Shivakumar Shetkar, and other medical officers were present at the meeting.
