Devika Sihag Advances to Thailand Masters Final After Dominating Semifinal Victory

In a remarkable display of skill, India's Devika Sihag secured her place in the finals of the Thailand Masters by defeating Huang Yu Hsun from Chinese Taipei in straight sets during the semifinals held on Saturday. The match was characterized by a hard-fought first set, which Sihag clinched 22-20.


Starting the second set with confidence, Devika quickly established an 11-5 lead at the break. She continued to dominate, showcasing exceptional net play that allowed her to extend her advantage to eight points. Although Huang attempted a comeback, narrowing the score to 17-12, Sihag remained relentless, ultimately winning the second set 20-13 and sealing her victory.


Path to the Final

Devika is set to compete against Malaysia's Goh Jin Wei in the Thailand Masters final on Sunday. Prior to this, she achieved a stunning upset by defeating the tournament's top seed, Supanida Katethong, in the semifinals. Sihag's earlier match ended with a score of 21-19, 21-18, showcasing her determination and skill.


Isharani Baruah's Journey Concludes

In contrast, Isharani Baruah's campaign in the women's singles came to an end after she lost to Malaysia's Wong Ling Ching with scores of 18-21, 21-16, 21-13, despite winning the opening game. After a strong start, she struggled to maintain her momentum in the subsequent games.


Earlier in the tournament, Isharani had made headlines by eliminating the second-seeded player, Sung Shuo Yun from Chinese Taipei, in the second round. The 22-year-old, currently ranked 48th in the world, achieved this victory in a match lasting over an hour, with scores of 21-13, 14-21, 21-14.
