Recently, Shruti openly told that she always got complete freedom and support from the Haasan family to move forward and take her own decisions. Along with this, he has also spoken honestly about taking a break from acting in 2018 and battling anxiety and depression for a long time.

Got full support from family

While talking to the media, Shruti Haasan said, “I grew up in a house where my parents understood the language of art very well. Both of them did many types of work and I also got the freedom to do different things as per my need and desire.” She further said that she focuses on her priorities, but at the same time does not shy away from trying her hand in new areas.

Why did you take a break from acting in 2018?

When asked about taking a break from acting in 2018, Shruti pointed towards the difficult phase in her personal life. At that time, she was linked with theater actor Michael Corsell, but both of them soon broke up. According to Shruti, that separation taught her more than the loss. “The worst thing was that I was left, but other than that, I got a lot from that experience,” he said.

Focused on mental health

Shruti told that this was the time to understand and assess yourself. She said that she struggled with depression for many years, due to which everyday life became difficult. “I didn’t know what I was looking for and who I was,” she said.

A journey of reinvention in London

Shruti described the time spent in London as an important period of her life. He said that being alone and reinventing himself through music was a very special experience for him. “Washing my own clothes, cooking my own food, taking the metro to the museum, then sitting for hours practicing writing and presenting my music to new audiences with no expectations—I wouldn’t trade that experience for anything,” said Shruti.

Another relationship also broke

After Michael Corsell, Shruti dated painter Shantanu Hazarika for many years, but both of them broke up in 2024. Despite this, Shruti still seems to give utmost importance to her self-journey and mental health.
