Union Budget 2026: Finance Minister’s announcement to benefit content creators, create lakhs of jobs in AVGC sector

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitakamal of India today Budget 2026-27 introduced. Nirmala Sitharaman has made some important announcements regarding India’s gaming sector in this budget. India is rapidly expanding its market in the fields of animation, gaming, visual effects and comics. Some announcements in this regard have been made in the budget presented today. These announcements will greatly benefit content creators.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Budget today announced that India’s Animation, Visual Effects and Comics i.e. AVGC is a growing sector, requiring 2 million professionals by 2030. The government has announced to take help from the Indian Institute of Creating Technology, Mumbai for this. It has been announced to open AVGC Content Creator Labs in 15 thousand secondary schools and 500 colleges in the country with the help of IICT Mumbai. (Photo Courtesy – X)

Millions of jobs in AVGC sector

Considering the needs of the AVGC sector, the government estimates that there will be a need for 20 lakh professionals in the next 30 years i.e. by 2030. For this, the government is assessing the needs of sports development at school and college level. AVGC Labs will be opened in 15 thousand secondary schools and 500 colleges in the country for content creators. Labs will be opened in schools and colleges with the help of IICT Mumbai, which will upgrade the content creating skills of children and youth at the grassroots level.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her budget presentation speech, considered the technology and innovation sector as the foundation of a developed India. He also hoped that India will become a global leader in the IT and content creation sector by 2047. For this, tech fellowships, AI governance, deep-tech robotics are being promoted. A budget of Rs 12.2 lakh crore has been decided to strengthen the digital infrastructure across the country. Efforts are being made to strengthen internet connectivity and digital networks in the country. In his speech, Finance Minister has made some big announcements for AI Data Center, Cloud Services, 5G/6G Technology, Biopharma Technology. Semiconductor Mission 2.0 has been announced for chip manufacturing.
