Amit Shah Praises 2026-27 Budget as Roadmap for Developed India by 2047

On Sunday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah commended the Union Budget for 2026-27, describing it as a strategic plan for building a developed India by 2047. In a post on X, Shah emphasized that the budget reflects the government's unwavering commitment to the dream of a self-reliant and developed nation. He noted that the budget outlines a comprehensive framework aimed at empowering every segment of society, every sector, and every citizen, while also providing a practical and solid approach to support them at every step.


Key Insights from the Budget Presentation

Shah shared these thoughts shortly after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her ninth budget in Parliament. Although there were no changes to the tax slabs, Sitharaman announced the implementation of a new tax law starting April 1, 2026. This marks the first time in Indian history that a central budget was presented on a Sunday. Shah reiterated on X that through the 2026-27 budget, Prime Minister Modi has demonstrated that the vision of a self-reliant and developed India is not just a slogan but a firm commitment of the government.


Empowering Every Citizen

He further stated that this budget not only provides a clear framework for empowering every citizen across various sectors but also presents a robust approach to support and encourage them. The developed India budget envisions a nation that leads globally in every field. The post elaborated that from manufacturing to infrastructure, healthcare to tourism, rural development to artificial intelligence, and sports to pilgrimage sites, the #DevelopedIndiaBudget aims to fulfill the dreams of youth, women, and farmers in every village, town, and city. Shah extended heartfelt congratulations on behalf of every Indian to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a budget that lays the groundwork for a developed India by 2047 and provides guidelines for the next 25 years.


Budget Inspired by Three Duties

The Finance Ministry stated that this is the first budget prepared in the duty building and is inspired by three 'duties.' According to the ministry, the first duty is to accelerate and sustain economic growth by enhancing productivity and competitiveness while building resilience against volatile global conditions. The second duty focuses on fulfilling public aspirations and building their capacity to become empowered partners in India's prosperity. The third duty, in line with the vision of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,' ensures that every family, community, region, and class has access to resources, facilities, and meaningful participation opportunities. The estimated non-debt receipts and total expenditure are projected at ₹36.5 lakh crore and ₹53.5 lakh crore, respectively, with the center's net tax receipts estimated at ₹28.7 lakh crore.
