Prayagraj: Magh Mela, a symbol of faith and unity, has set a wonderful record this year, which has attracted the attention of not only the country but the entire world. According to the data released by the fair administration, more than 21 crore devotees have taken a dip of faith in Triveni Sangam in the first 30 days of the fair till Maghi Purnima Snan on Sunday.
This number is unprecedented in itself and is much more than the crowd gathered in any religious or social event in the country except Mahakumbh-2025. There are still 14 days left for the fair and the last major bathing festival of Mahashivratri, due to which there is every possibility of this figure increasing further.
A number larger than the total population of many countries
This huge number of devotees gathered in Magh Mela leaves behind the total population of many big countries of the world. According to the fair administration, this figure is more than the total population of dozens of countries like Russia, Japan, France, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Australia, Switzerland and United Arab Emirates (UAE).
This is approximately 80 percent of Uttar Pradesh’s own total population, which reflects the massive nature of the event. This is not just a religious gathering, but has proved to be a unique event that unites crores of people.
Devotees arrived from across the country and abroad
To be a part of this historic event, a large number of devotees not only from Uttar Pradesh but also from every corner of the country and abroad reached Prayagraj. The fair administration had made elaborate arrangements to manage this huge crowd, so that all the devotees could take bath and have darshan safely.
This number is expected to increase further with the final bathing festival of Mahashivratri, which will establish the Magh Mela as a unique symbol of the spiritual and cultural power of India.
