The government has pledged to strengthen the country’s semiconductor ecosystem and promote its supply chain, so that India can become self-reliant in this strategic sector. Under this, Semiconductor Mission 2.0 is proposed, which will accelerate investment in design, manufacturing and packaging, enabling India to establish a strong presence in the global value chain.
Special provision on medicine and EMS fields
The government has also focused on making India a global manufacturing hub for pharmaceuticals. This will open up new possibilities for drug production, export and research. To strengthen the electronics sector, the scope of EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Services) PLI scheme has been announced. Under the scheme, PLI expenditure is proposed to be increased to Rs 40,000 crore, which will give a major boost to domestic production and create new employment opportunities.
