AI will change the picture of farming, big plan to increase farmers’ income

Budget 2026: In Budget 2026, the Central Government has taken a big and far-reaching step for the farmers. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman INDIA-VISTAAR A new initiative named has been announced. Its objective is to take Artificial Intelligence i.e. AI directly to the fields, so that farmers can take the right decision at the right time and losses in farming can be reduced.

What is Bharat-VISTAAR and why is it special?

Bharat-VISTAAR will be a multi-language AI platform, which has been specifically designed keeping in mind the needs of farmers. The full name of VISTAAR is Virtually Integrated System To Access Agricultural Resources. Through this platform, farmers will get important information to crops, soil, weather and farming in their own language, which will increase production and reduce risks.

Partnership between IIT Madras and Ministry of Agriculture

This ambitious project IIT Madras Has prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. Its focus is to digitally strengthen traditional agricultural extension systems. Through digital technology, advice to farming will now be more accurate, easier and implementable on the ground.

Crop, soil and weather data will show the right path

According to the Finance Minister, data to crops, soil, weather and farming methods will be linked with the help of AI in India-VISTAAR. With this, farmers will get scientific information in simple language, which they can directly use in their fields. This means that now farming will not be based on guesswork, but on the basis of data and technology.

What else special for farmers in Budget 2026?

Many other big announcements have also been made for farmers in this budget. Cashew and coconut farmers in coastal areas will get financial help and incentives. Cultivation of apricot, walnut and almond will be promoted in hilly areas. Apart from this, there is a plan to strengthen the domestic supply for the chocolate industry by encouraging cocoa cultivation. A strategy has also been made to increase the export of Ayurvedic products.
