Jasprit Bumrah: Before the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, a series of 5 T20 matches was played between India and New Zealand. With this series, both the teams wanted to finalize their preparations, in which Team India was successful to a great extent. India won the T20 series against New Zealand 4-1, but in the last match, Team India’s tension increased regarding fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, when Bumrah not only had the worst performance in T20 International but also in his T20 career.

Bumrah’s poor performance in T20 series against New Zealand

Jasprit Bumrah played only 4 matches in the 5 T20 match series against New Zealand. In these four matches he took only 4 wickets. He bowled at a poor average of 35.50. Bumrah took 3 out of 4 wickets in only one match. In the remaining 3 matches he managed to take only one wicket.

In the first T20 match, Bumrah gave 29 runs in 3 overs and could not take a single wicket. He was given rest in the second match. After this, Bumrah took 3 wickets in the third T20 match, for which he received the Player of the Match award. Whereas in the fourth T20 match, Bumrah took only one wicket for 38 runs in 4 overs.

Bumrah cast the most expensive spell of his T20 career

After this, Jasprit Bumrah’s very poor performance was seen in the last i.e. fifth T20 match. He gave away 58 runs in 4 overs and could not take a single wicket. This was Bumrah’s most expensive spell in his T20 career. Earlier in IPL 2021, while playing for Mumbai Indians, Jasprit Bumrah had given a total of 56 runs and taken one wicket against Chennai Super Kings, but while bowling against New Zealand with an economy of 9.47, Bumrah did not manage to take even a single wicket. Jasprit Bumrah’s poor form can increase the problems of Team India. Bumrah is a very important player for Team India in the tournament. If he continues to give away runs like this, the team’s tension will increase.
