ICC on Pakistan Cricket Board: ICC can take strict action against Pakistan. ICC Board meeting is going to be held in the next 48 hours, in which serious ban including suspension is likely to be imposed on Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Following Pakistan’s decision to boycott the T20 World Cup match against India, the ICC is taking the issue seriously.
Recently, India registered its participation in the Asia Cup hosted by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). India, despite tensions in its relations with Pakistan, sent its team to the Asia Cup and played a match against Pakistan to prevent any negative impact on the global game. However, now Pakistan’s decision to boycott the World Cup match against India has become a matter of concern for the ICC.
ICC will take action against Pakistan
The ICC may take strict action against Pakistan regarding this situation, which may go as far as banning their team from its upcoming seasons. Following the Pakistan government’s decision to boycott India, the ICC’s action could potentially result in Pakistan being barred from playing in prestigious competitions.
ICC has expressed strong objection to this step of Pakistan. ICC says that this decision is against the basic spirit of the game and PCB will have to find a solution in this matter, otherwise it can have far-reaching and serious consequences.
ICC’s strict reaction
After Pakistan’s refusal, the matter is now in the ICC’s court. ICC says that till now it has not received any official information in this regard from Pakistan Cricket Board. ICC is waiting for the written reply from PCB. It is believed that Pakistan is doing this deliberately to show its importance and it is possible that it may agree to play the match later.
The ICC has raised questions on this decision of the Pakistan government and warned that such a boycott can have serious and long-term effects. “The ICC hopes that the PCB will seriously consider the long-term implications this decision has for cricket in its country, given the impact this decision may have on the global cricket system, of which Pakistan is a member and beneficiary,” the ICC said in a statement.
The ICC also made it clear that it respects the role of governments, but this decision is against the spirit of the game, fairness and the interests of fans, especially the millions of cricket fans in Pakistan.
