Multiple viewers of the Grammy Awards 2026 raged over "woke" statements from attendees as a number of people who appeared on the stage issued a political statement. A big focus from these artists were regarding the actions of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Minnesota. Protests have taken place across the US after two citizens were fatally shot after incidents with ICE agents. As successful artists headed on stage to accept their awards, multiple people were making political statements.

Olivia Dean used her acceptance speech for Best New Artist to state that she was the granddaughter of immigrants, resulting in a round of applause. Rapper Bad Bunny followed suit and opened up his statement with: "Before I say thanks to God, I'm going to say ICE out."

He continued: "We're not savages, we're not animals, we're not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans." Meanwhile Billie Eilish also issued a comment as she said: "No one is illegal on stolen land," prompting an influx of applause.

Host Travor Noah also kicked off the political comments by poking fun at rapper Nicki Minaj who has faced criticism after throwing her support behind Donald Trump. While the applause was certainly heard in the arena, critics from home became infuriated over political statements.

Taking to X, one user wrote: "Felt like I was in the twilight zone, wtf is happening in the US and when did the award show about music turn into a politic circus?"

Another fumed: "Turned the Grammys off as soon as I turned them on... wanted to see artists and watch their performances, not hear political s**t. And no, I don't give a f*** where you align, to each their own. Over everything being saturated with that."

A third wrote: "I tried to watch. Then you make political statements. Turned it off after 10 minutes. Another year of garbage."

Trump also got involved with the fury as he fumed the awards show is the "worst, virtually unwatchable." He added that CBS is "lucky not to have this garbage litter their airways any longer". He raged: "Noah said INCORRECTLY about me, that Donald Trump and Bill Clinton spent time on Epstein Island. WRONG!!! I can't speak for Bill, but I have neer been to Epstein Island, nor anywhere close, and until tonight's false and defamatory statement, have never been accused of being there, not even by the fake news media." He also warned that his lawyers will be getting sent to sue him.
