A "beloved" UK restaurant has been forced to close after more than two decades, with the owners issuing a "heartbreaking" statement. The Northern Quarter Restaurant (TNQ), founded in 2004 by Jobe Ferguson of the Liar's Group of restaurants and bars, later joined by chef Anthony Fielden, has been vital to the Northern Quarter's growth in Manchester.

But now the owners of TNQ have issued a devastating statement explaining why they can "no longer continue" and have had to permanently close the doors of one of the "longest established independent restaurants" in the city. In a statement issued this morning, the owners explained why the "beloved" restaurant is "no longer a viable business" and apologised to staff for the "heartbreaking" situation.
