IND vs PAK T20 World Cup: Cricket fans have got a big shock in the T20 World Cup 2026. The high-voltage match between India and Pakistan to be held on February 15 will no longer be played. The Pakistan government officially announced the boycott of this match on Sunday evening. Both the teams were scheduled to face each other in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the group stage.

However, it is not yet clear whether Pakistan will play in that situation if both the teams come face to face in the knockout stage.

Pakistan angry with ICC’s decision

In fact, on January 24, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had decided to include Scotland in the tournament instead of Bangladesh. In protest against this decision, Pakistan has taken the step of boycotting the match against India. After this, ICC has appealed to Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to reconsider its decision.

Pakistan government statement

The Pakistan government has clarified that the team will participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, but will not play any match against India. The government issued a statement on social media platform

ICC’s response

The ICC issued a media release late last night saying that it was awaiting official confirmation from the PCB. The ICC said that it respects the decisions of governments, but Pakistan’s move could impact the global cricket ecosystem.
ICC expressed hope that Pakistan will reconsider its decision, so that the tournament and the cricket system is not negatively affected.

PCB chief met the Prime Minister

Before this decision, PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi had met Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on January 26. In this meeting, there was discussion about participation in the World Cup and the match against India. Naqvi had then indicated that the final decision would be taken soon, which has now been made public by the government.

India will go to Sri Lanka as per schedule

According to BCCI sources, the Indian team will tour Sri Lanka as per the schedule. The team will reach Sri Lanka on February 15 and will follow all ICC rules. The final decision regarding the match will be taken by the match referee present on the field.

Only three matches of Pakistan in group stage

After the boycott of the match against India, Pakistan will play only three matches in the group stage. Pakistan will face Netherlands on 7 February, America on 10 February and Namibia on 18 February.
India will play against America on 7th February, Namibia on 12th February and Netherlands on 18th February.

India-Pakistan World Cup record

Pakistan’s record against India in T-20 and ODI World Cup has been weak. So far, both the teams have come face to face 8 times in the T-20 World Cup, in which India has won 7 and Pakistan has won only 1 match. India has won all 8 matches played in the ODI World Cup.
