To achieve the goal of clean air and healthy life along with the development of the city, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has taken vigorous and sustained efforts. To be held in Ahmedabad in 2030 commonwealth gamesKeeping this in mind, Ahmedabad city has also started extensive preparations for clean air and sustainable urban development. The primary objective of the city is to ensure environmental management as per international standards for the global sports festival event.

in the city pollutionA total of nine hotspot areas have been scientifically identified, which include Pirana, Rakhiyal, Raikhad, Bopal, Vatva, S.P. Stadium, Chandkheda, Maninagar and various 16 C&D waste collection centres. Targeted action plan with special monitoring has been implemented in these areas, due to which pollution control has become more effective. Not only this, steps are being taken to improve the air quality at all these places.
National Clean Air Program
With the proper utilization of the grant received under the National Clean Air Program (NCAP) and the 15th Finance Commission, 16 truck-mounted mist machines are operational in the city. 6 of those mist machines Pirana Dumpsite And are continuously operational in the surrounding areas, while 10 mist machines fix the routes of polluted routes and perform regular misting operations. Apart from this, a total of 62 mechanical road sweeper machines are employed for PM mitigation.
“Good Construction Practices Policy” has been implemented to control pollution caused by the construction sector. In which dust sensors, air quality display and CCTV have been made mandatory on sites with built-up area of more than 20,000 square meters. Apart from this, use of mist machine and complete removal of soil or sand coming out during excavation, arrangement of barricade and grate net around the site, proper paving of roads entering the site and installation of tire washer system at the entry and exit will have to be done.

Under this policy, so far dust sensors have been installed at about 140 construction sites and the amount of pollution is reduced by regular monitoring. Not only this, the quantity of green nets installed at various construction sites has also increased due to which penalty collection has been reduced to minimum. Under this policy, Rs. 100 crore will be collected from various construction sites during 2024-25. 1.71 crore and till date in 2025-26 Rs. A penalty of Rs 1.16 crore has been collected.
In the C&D waste management sector, 25 C&D collection centers have been developed and a processing plant with 1000 TPD capacity is operational at Gyaspur. A second plant with more 1000 TPD capacity will be operational by December 2026. Therefore, scientific disposal of construction waste will further reduce the dust particles flying in the air.
Public transport areas in Ahmedabad green model Have adopted. A total of 1250 buses of AMTS and BRTS are running on clean fuel – which includes 1052 CNG and 207 electric buses. 128 electric vehicle charging stations are operational in the city and solar powered charging facilities have been developed. These initiatives are proving important in reducing vehicle emissions.
To balance the environment, 303 gardens and 118 urban forests have been developed in the city. The green cover of the city has reached approximately 12.5 percent. Under the “One Tree in the Name” campaign, more than 40 lakh trees have been planted in 2024-25, which contributes significantly to air purification in the long run.
