Ranchi: In Jharkhand, all the political parties are opening their cards one after the other in the municipal elections. On Monday, former mayor of Dhanbad Chandrashekhar Agarwal left BJP and joined Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, while BJP extended its support to Sanjeev Agarwal for the post of mayor. In Ranchi, Congress fielded Rama Khalkho while BJP supported Roshni Khalkho. In the important meeting of the BJP Core Committee, the names of the candidates for the post of Mayor and Municipal Council Chairman of nine municipal corporations were agreed upon. Roshni Khalkho will file her nomination on February 4 and Rama Khalkho on February 3. The main contest in the Ranchi Municipal Corporation elections is being considered between the candidates supported by Congress and BJP.

Congress candidate Rama Khalkho has previously been Ranchi Mayor. Roshni Khalkho had previously been a ward councilor. Only after this legal initiative of his, the High Court had given strict instructions to the state government to conduct elections soon.
