As Valentine’s Day preparations begin, the occasion is usually seen as a celebration of love for couples. But for those nursing heartbreak or dealing with a not-so-pleasant breakup, the day can feel less romantic. Now, a zoo in Poland has come up with an unusual—and wildly talked-about—offer that’s grabbing attention on social media.

Under this quirky Valentine’s Day campaign, people can name a cockroach at the zoo after their ex-partner.

According to reports, Poland’s Orientarium Zoo first launched the initiative in 2023 and has revived it this year due to popular demand. The zoo allows participants to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after their ex—and then watch it being fed to another animal.

In a Facebook post announcing the campaign, the zoo described it as the “perfect gift for your ex.” The post added that the initiative offers people a symbolic way to close a chapter in their lives while also supporting a good cause.

As per TVP World, participants can adopt a Madagascar hissing cockroach for 50 zloty (around Rs 1,290) and name it after their ex. In return, they receive a digital adoption certificate.

Those willing to spend 150 zloty (approximately Rs 3,870) are provided photographic proof of the cockroach’s fate. For people seeking an even stronger sense of closure—or revenge—the VIP package costs around Rs 7,000, under which the cockroach named after the ex is fed to a meerkat.

The campaign has sparked a wave of hilarious and cheeky reactions online, with social media users calling it the “most honest Valentine’s gift ever.”
