Now a new medical examiner's report has surfaced, which suggests that Monique Tepe, who was found dead alongside her husband Spencer Tepe, was shot nine times, including once in her face. The double murder of the couple left their families mourning in shock.
Days after the couple’s murder, Monique's ex-husband, Michael McKee, a 39-year-old surgeon in Illinois, was arrested. He was reportedly charged with murder in connection with the killings. Months before the killings, McKee was sued for medical malpractice, according to court records previously obtained by PEOPLE.
New reports reveal the extent of injuries
It has been over a month since the couple was found dead, and now, reports from the Franklin County coroner accessed by PEOPLE reveal the extent of injuries the couple sustained at the hands of their alleged killer.
Monique, 39, was shot in the right cheek and sustained nine gunshot wounds overall, the coroner stated in the report. It further unveiled that she was shot in her torso multiple times, including three times in her chest. In addition to the gunshot wounds, PEOPLE reported that she also had an "irregular green" contusion in her left calf.
Monique's cause of death revealed
According to the coroner, Monique's cause of death was "gunshot wounds of the head, trunk, and extremities with visceral, skeletal, and soft tissue injuries." The coroner's report also stated that Spencer had been shot seven times, including in his head.
The Tepes were killed two weeks after their fifth wedding anniversary. They left behind two children, ages 3 and 1, who were found physically unharmed a few feet from the parents' bodies.
McKee, the alleged killer, was arrested on January 10, 2026, near his workplace in Illinois. He has since been extradited to Ohio, where he has been charged with four counts of aggravated murder and one count of aggravated robbery. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
