Four gunmen killed Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi and the country’s influential political leader, in his home. This news was informed by Saif’s office. Saif, 53, was once considered the future ruler of the country.

Gaddafi’s daughter and Saif’s sister claimed that Saif died in Libya’s border area with Algeria. However, no one has yet opened their mouths about who are the assailants and what is the reason for this murder.

Dictator Gaddafi’s death ended almost decades of dictatorship in Libya. It is heard that the leader of the state was brutally killed. Gaddafi’s body was shot and shredded by the rebels. In 2011, the late statesman’s name came up again in the case of his son’s death. It is believed, though, that Saif did not hold any political office. Yet he was a key leader in the political context of the oil-rich North African country of Libya. He had the power to form any other coalition to pressure the opposition. The question arises whether he was removed because of that.

Saif was born in 1972. He is the second child of Muammar Gaddafi. He was once considered the ‘de facto’ ie the next ruler of Libya. However, Saif Gaddafi was also known as the reformist leader of the government. Gaddafi fell during the 2011 mass coup. At that time, Saif tried to escape from the country. But he was caught and imprisoned. Later, however, he was released. He was staying at his home. But this time, Saif, the son of the autocratic father, died in the attack of the assailants. Whether there is really a conspiracy of the opposition behind this death is now a matter of practice.
