A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, where three real sisters allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor. The ages of the deceased sisters are said to be 12, 14 and 16 years. This incident happened around 2 am on Wednesday. A task-based Korean gaming app has come under investigation after the suicide note recovered from the room of the three and facts revealed in the preliminary investigation.
According to the police, the people present at the spot heard a loud noise, after which an alarm was raised and the police was informed. The police team reached the spot, secured the area and sent the bodies for postmortem. The sisters were taken to a hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them brought dead.
A one-page suicide note was recovered from the room of the deceased sisters, which the police have taken into custody and started investigation. The note read, “A true life story. Read whatever is written in this diary, because it is all true. Read now! I am very sorry, sorry papa.”
Photographs of family members were also found scattered on the floor of the room. Preliminary investigation has also revealed that the three sisters had been spending time on mobile phones for a long time and had allegedly become addicted to a Korean online task-based game.
Chetan Kumar, father of the deceased, said while talking to the media that he had no knowledge about this game. “The officials told me that yesterday was the last task,” he said. He also said that he was informed that there were a total of 50 tasks in the game, of which the last task of suicide was completed on Monday.
According to the police, “We received information that three girls committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of the ninth floor of their building. Police immediately reached the spot and took possession of the bodies. The victims were taken to a hospital in Loni, where they were declared brought dead,” said Superintendent of Police Atul Kumar Singh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Nimish Patil said the girls were influenced by Korean culture. He said that the family had banned mobile phones for a few days and no specific game or task has been confirmed so far.
Police are investigating mobile phones, digital activities and online contacts. Help of cyber experts can also be taken. Officials say that at present the suicide cannot be directly linked to online gaming and investigation into all aspects is ongoing.
