New Delhi. On the Special Intensive Revision of Voters i.e. SIR and the petition filed against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, West Bengal CM and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee gave many arguments in the Supreme Court on Wednesday in the bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi, but she could not achieve anything at the moment. Mamata Banerjee told the Supreme Court that she is from West Bengal and can explain the SIR case very well. Mamta said that she is from an ordinary family and is not getting justice.

Mamta Banerjee said in the Supreme Court that she is a normal person and is not fighting for her party. On this, CJI Surya Kant said that the West Bengal government has also come to the court on the issue of SIR. Lawyers like Kapil Sibal and Gopal Subramaniam are debating on it. On this, Mamata Banerjee said that when the lawyers were fighting from the beginning, things were being put on record again and again, wrote letters to the Election Commission six times, but did not even get a reply, then one feels that justice is stuck somewhere at the back door. When he asked for 5 minutes, the CJI said that he will give 15 minutes, but first listen to us.

CJI said that every problem has a solution and we will find a solution for this too. Your government and party are here. You have the most senior lawyers in the country. We have accepted your problems. After this, Mamata Banerjee said that first she should be allowed to speak and finish the matter. Mamta said that all Bengali newspapers have published it. Whose picture she wants to give. The court said that it agrees that the issue raised by Mamata Banerjee is genuine. The court said that we also do not want that anyone should be excluded from the voter list due to language difficulties or difference in the spelling of the name.

Mamta Banerjee gave examples of women going to their in-laws’ house and death of BLO. Also alleged that the Election Commission is not following the orders of the Supreme Court. He said that West Bengal is being targeted. Mamta raised the question that there are assembly elections in Assam also, but why SIR is not being conducted there. He also demanded to include Aadhaar card among the valid documents of SIR. On this, the Supreme Court bench said that the decision regarding Aadhaar has been reserved.

Mamta Banerjee also alleged that the Election Commission is not even accepting the domicile certificate of the government and being a citizen of the state. Mamta said that contrary to the Constitution, micro observers were kept in the state. Mamta Banerjee said that these micro observers have been deployed to remove names of people from the voter list. Mamta alleged that the powers have been taken away from all the EROs of West Bengal. He said that this is WhatsApp Commission. This argument of Mamata Banerjee was opposed by the Election Commission’s lawyer. The Election Commission’s lawyer said that Mamata Banerjee’s allegation that the Commission is not cooperating with the West Bengal government is wrong. After this, the CJI bench issued a notice to the Election Commission on Mamata Banerjee’s petition and sought its reply. Now the hearing in this case will be held on Monday 9th January.
