Actor Mamta Mohandas has penned a powerful message on World Cancer Day 2026 . A cancer survivor herself, Mamta Mohandas has expressed gratitude to the people who have been with her throughout her cancer journey. She has battled Hodgkin lymphoma , a type of cancer that affects the body's lymph nodes. She was first diagnosed around 2009.
On February 4, Mamta Mohandas took to her social media handle and said, “Today I say one more thanks to the ones who loved me unconditionally during my struggles, expecting nothing in return. You showed me that it’s okay to let go, to depend and count on someone, you showed me that it’s not so hard to place trust and that it’s okay to be selfless. You made me believe. Again. And to the ones who loved conditionally… an even bigger thanks because you made my belief in myself stronger and trust the choices I made with even more conviction and rid me of all self-doubt.”
She further addressed the cancer fighters and survivors and urged them to keep believing. “Love and more power to fighters and survivors who keep believing. Let the love and light guide you,” she said.

In a note shared on Instagram on World Cancer Day 2024, Mamta Mohandas spoke about the hard times and how she came back with the help of her family. “2009 was the year that changed everything for me and impacted every plan my family had for us. Last 10 years has been quite a challenge, and as I look back come 2019, I’m proud to realize that I have fought tirelessly, stayed strong, and survived. Staying positive and strong for several years is very hard, but if I have done it, there are a few people behind it. All Thanks to Dad-Mom, a few of my cousins who have shown me what sibling-love is and my dearest friends who always cared to call or text to check if I am ‘actually well’ and not just pretending to be ok, all the good work that comes my way and colleagues who challenge me to perform better and to all the opportunities given to me by the universe to realize what’s right for me and what’s not,” she said.
On the work front, Mamta Mohandas will be next seen in ‘My Dear Sister.'
