Amidst existing cab services like Ola, Uber, and InDrive, a new cab service, Bharat Taxi, is making its official entry. India's first cooperative cab service, Bharat Taxi, has been officially launched in Delhi. Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the app at an event held at Vigyan Bhavan. This service, which had been running as a pilot project in Delhi for a long time, has now been fully opened to the general public.

Following the launch, many users downloaded the app, but in the initial hours, some people faced difficulties related to booking and app access. However, the government and those associated with the platform say that the system will be further improved in the coming days. So, let's tell you the complete process of booking a ride on the Bharat Taxi app.

Drivers will now be called 'Sarathi.'

The biggest feature of Bharat Taxi is its driver ownership model. Drivers joining this platform will now be called 'Sarathi' (charioteer) instead of drivers. According to the government, the Sarathis working on this app will be its real owners. The entire fare for each ride will go directly to Sarathi's bank account, and no commission will be deducted, unlike Ola and Uber. Furthermore, Bharat Taxi is not started by a private company but is based on a cooperative model. It has been developed jointly by the Ministry of Cooperation and the National e-Governance Division. It will be operated by Sahakar Taxi Cooperative Limited. A special council has been created for this purpose, which is responsible for monitoring the entire system.

How can users use Bharat Taxi?

Bharat Taxi can be used just like Ola or Uber. Android users can download the Bharat Taxi app from the Google Play Store, and iPhone users can download it from the Apple App Store. This app is available in Hindi and English, as well as Gujarati and Marathi. After downloading the app, users need to register with their mobile number and verify it with an OTP before they can book a ride.

How to Book a Ride

To book a ride with the Bharat Taxi app, first open the app. Then enter your pickup and drop-off locations, and select your preferred option from bike, auto-rickshaw, or car. Once you confirm the displayed fare, your ride will be booked. Live tracking will also begin as soon as the ride is booked.

Relief from Fare Hikes and Surge Pricing

Bharat Taxi users will not face the problem of surge pricing. This means that fares will not increase during peak hours, rain, or heavy traffic. It is claimed that the fares will be lower than other cab services available in the market, which will directly benefit ordinary passengers. The app also includes several features to ensure passenger safety. All drivers will undergo police verification. Additionally, features such as live location sharing, an emergency SOS button, and the ability to add trusted contacts are also provided.
