A tragic road accident in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night has left the community in shock. The horrific incident occurred on the Lucknow-Kanpur National Highway, resulting in the immediate deaths of a couple and their two young children. According to police reports, the accident was caused by the negligence of a truck driver who attempted to flee the scene.
A senior police official provided details on Thursday, stating that the collision took place around 11:30 PM near Bhalla Farm in the Soharamau police jurisdiction. Arvind Kumar, the area officer, explained that a truck traveling from Lucknow to Kanpur collided with another truck from behind.
Following the impact, the truck driver accelerated in an attempt to escape, subsequently crashing into a motorcycle. The motorcycle was completely destroyed, leading to the tragic deaths of the couple and their two children who were riding it.
Kumar further revealed that the family was returning from a wedding celebration. The deceased have been identified as 35-year-old Virendra, his 33-year-old wife Ritu, their nine-year-old daughter, and their six-year-old son. After the incident, the truck driver fled the scene, and police have reported that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination while efforts to locate the driver are ongoing.
