New Delhi: The Supreme Court lifted restrictions on former president Anurag Thakur from holding office at the Board of Control for Cricket in India on Thursday.
The apex court has sent the former Sports minister into exile from cricket governance in January 2017 when he was ordered to “cease and desist” from being associated with the BCCI for his continued defiance to implement Justice Lodha panel reforms.
Thakur had sought to lift the ban after tendering an unconditional apology and a bench of CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi heard his application and observed that the sanction wasn’t intended to last a lifetime.
