At an investor event earlier this week, the 83-year-old businessman told Wall Street Journal: “”My daughter and the Beckhams are a whole other story. That’s not for coverage here today, but I’ll tell you my daughter’s great, my son-in-law Brooklyn is great, and I look forward to them having a long, happy marriage together.”

Peltz also responded to questions about handling high-stakes situations that play out in the public eye.

“My advice is to stay the hell out of the press. How much good did that do?”

The comments follow an escalation of the rift on Jan. 20, when Brooklyn detailed the fallout with his family in an Instagram post. He narrated how his parents, former football star David Beckham and former Spice Girl member Victoria, allegedly controlled him for most of his life, stating that he has no intention to reconcile with them.

“I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled. I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” Brooklyn wrote.

He went on to claim that his family “values public promotion and endorsements above all else.”

After that, David addressed his son’s statement and said, “They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn.”

Brooklyn, 26, the eldest Beckham son and Nicola, 31, have reportedly maintained a strained relationship with the rest of the Beckham family since before the couple’s wedding in April 2022.

In addition to an alleged “hijacking” of the couple’s first dance, Brooklyn claimed his parents pressured him to sign over the rights to his name, and that his mother backed out of making Peltz’s wedding dress at the last minute. The rest of his family was also reportedly unwelcoming toward his wife.
