A forgotten temple well buried under garbage and debris has found new life, and the story is now capturing attention far beyond its village roots. Actor R Madhavan recently spotlighted the inspiring transformation by sharing a viral video that shows how community action can revive heritage structures. R Madhavan recently felt inspired and took to his Instagram Story to share a video of a 500-year-old temple well located in Itikyala village in Andhra Pradesh’s Nandyal district. The video had already gained momentum online after a content creator, who goes by the name Telugu Abbayi Kanth, documented how the historic well was revived after being neglected for years.
The video showed that the temple well, once forgotten and filled with garbage, began receiving widespread public attention after Kanth urged residents to take action. His viral appeal encouraged people in the area to come together and clean the structure. Within just a few days, many volunteers stepped forward to remove accumulated debris, repair the stonework, and restore the well. What was once an abandoned heritage site has now turned into a point of pride for the local community.
Telugu Abbayi Kanth also shared details about the larger initiative behind the restoration effort. He explained that he formed a team called Purva Sampada Rakshaka Sena to focus on cleaning ancient temples, wells, and heritage structures that are often left neglected and filled with waste. According to him, the group currently consists of around 40 members who travel to different sites, often renting vehicles and managing expenses related to transportation and meals, to carry out restoration work.
Kanth highlighted that the team’s goal is to revive historic buildings that are deteriorating due to neglect and garbage accumulation. He emphasised that these ancient structures represent the foundation of cultural traditions and values. He also stressed that preserving such heritage sites is closely linked to protecting cultural identity and fulfilling a sense of responsibility toward history and tradition.
