UttarPradesh – Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said the state has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, emerging as a contributor to India’s economic growth while maintaining improved law and order. He was speaking at the Sant Sammelan held at the Saptarishi Ashram Ground near the Bharat Mata Temple on Sapt Sarovar Road in Haridwar.

Addressing saints, spiritual leaders, and devotees, Adityanath noted that Uttar Pradesh, once seen as struggling on multiple fronts, is now moving steadily along a path of development. He pointed to the absence of riots and curfews as evidence of improved governance and administrative stability, adding that these changes have helped the state strengthen its position within the national economy.

Remarks on Uttar Pradesh’s changing landscape

During his address, the chief minister said Uttar Pradesh has shed its earlier image of instability through sustained efforts focused on law enforcement, infrastructure, and governance. According to him, the state is now witnessing conditions that support investment, social harmony, and economic activity. He emphasized that public safety and peace have played a crucial role in enabling broader development goals.

Adityanath told the gathering that maintaining order has allowed the administration to focus on long-term progress, stating that consistent policies and effective implementation have helped the state move forward. He added that the changes were visible not only in economic indicators but also in everyday life for residents.

Spiritual centres and national consciousness

The Uttar Pradesh chief minister also spoke about the wider cultural and spiritual significance of Badrinath Dham and Kedarnath Dham. He described the two shrines as more than places of worship, calling them important centres of national consciousness that inspire unity and collective strength.

He said efforts have been made to preserve and respect the heritage associated with these sites, ensuring that their cultural importance remains intact while facilities for devotees continue to improve. According to Adityanath, safeguarding such heritage reflects a broader respect for tradition alongside modern development.

Participation of national and state leaders

The Sant Sammelan saw the presence of several senior leaders from across the country. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the event alongside Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and spiritual leader Swami Avdheshanand Giri Maharaj. Their participation highlighted the national significance of the gathering.

During the programme, a ceremonial murti sthapna was performed at the Gurudev Samadhi Temple. The ritual was carried out in the presence of Union Minister M L Khattar, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and other dignitaries, marking an important moment of reverence and tradition at the event.

Uttarakhand CM’s address to the gathering

Speaking on the occasion, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the saints, spiritual leaders, and devotees present symbolised Sanatan consciousness. He noted that their assembly on the sacred banks of the Ganga in the Saptarishi region reflected a shared commitment to cultural values and national service.

Dhami said that individuals who dedicated their lives to service, sacrifice, and compassion were not only ascetics but also figures deeply connected to the nation’s moral and cultural foundation. He added that such gatherings serve as reminders of the enduring link between spiritual traditions and social responsibility.

Wide attendance from across the country

The event drew participation from a broad spectrum of leaders and spiritual figures. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan, and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav were among those present. Several prominent religious leaders, including Shankaracharya Rajrajeshwarashram Maharaj and yoga teacher Baba Ramdev, also attended.

In addition to senior officials and spiritual heads, the Sant Sammelan witnessed the presence of numerous saints, public representatives, and devotees. The large turnout underscored the significance of the gathering as a platform where discussions on culture, governance, and national values converged in a shared setting.
