Islamabad: As many as 15 people were killed and more than 80 injured on Friday, February 6, in an explosion at a religious site in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, local media reports said.
The explosion occurred at Tarlai area’s Imambargah Khadijah al-Kubra in the Shehzad Town of the federal capital, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Around 112 police and rescue personnel reached the site and started rescue operations.

The site has been completely sealed off since the blast, and assistant commissioners have been deployed to oversee the treatment of the injured, the district administration said.
An emergency was also declared at Polyclinic, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (IMS), and CDA Hospital in Islamabad.
On the orders of the executive director of PIMS, an emergency has been enforced at the hospital, the newspaper confirmed.
According to Dawn, the Islamabad Capital Territory police spokesperson, Taqi Jawad, said it was too early to determine the nature of the blast, and forensics teams will be required to determine whether it was a suicide or a planted bomb.
The emergency, orthopaedic, neurology, and burn centres were swiftly activated as the injured are being transferred to PIMS and Polyclinic for treatment, it added.
This is a developing story. More details are awaited.
