The 2026 Winter Olympics are here, with Milano Cortina hosting the quadrennial festival of snow and ice-based sports. The Games officially start today and run through February 22. However, the opening ceremony will take place this evening; several competitions will already be under way by then, including curling, ice hockey, luge, ski jumping, snowboarding and figure skating.

In terms of yesterday's action, Great Britain repelled a tough challenge from Estonia to maintain their winning start to the mixed doubles curling competition in Cortina. Bruce Mouat and Jennifer Dodds held a narrow 6-5 lead after the sixth end before taking a four on the next to establish an unassailable 10-5 advantage with one end to spare.

But the Games has already been hit by a norovirus outbreak, with athletes forced to quarantine and an ice hockey game involving Finland being suspended. The nation's women's ice hockey team has put six players in quarantine, as four were sick.

While ski jumping has also come under unique scrutiny surrounding cheating claims, as there are concerns about the potential extreme measures some male athletes may take in search of Olympic glory.

German publication Bild reports that "penis-gate" has become a key issue within ski jumping. It is claimed there are concerns that some athletes are injecting hyaluronic acid into their genitals to gain a competitive advantage.

Express Sport will provide you with all the latest news, schedule updates and results from today's events in Milan-Cortina as Team GB aim for a record-breaking medal haul.
