Fake Wedding Card: In Indore, cyber thugs adopted such a method of cheating that people were first shocked and then alerted. The case pertains to a fake digital wedding invitation card in the name of senior Congress leader and former District Congress Committee President Sadashiv Yadav, which quickly went viral on social media. The card looked very real, with formal language, the wedding date and a link at the bottom that appealed to be clicked. From here the suspicion of fraud began to deepen.
Card reached mobile, date was also written on it
When this invitation card came on the mobile phones of many people of the city, they considered it a normal invitation. It was clearly written on the card 24 February 2026. The design and language were so precise that no one immediately suspected. But some alert people noticed the link, which forced them to stop. When this card reached Sadashiv Yadav himself, he too was surprised. He clarified that this card is completely fake and his name is being misused.
Sadashiv Yadav alerted
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Sadashiv Yadav immediately warned people through videos and posts on social media. He said that such cards are being spread by hacking their mobile or social media accounts. He appealed to all acquaintances, workers and relatives not to open any link given in this card nor forward it further.
How does this method of cyber fraud work?
Investigation revealed that this entire matter could be to cyber fraud. Often fraudsters send fake wedding cards, courier notices or event links. As soon as a person clicks on the link, malware may be installed on his mobile or he may be taken to a fake website asking for banking and personal information. In many cases, just one click puts the entire mobile data at risk.
Police and cyber cell in action
As soon as the complaint was received, the police and cyber cell became active. Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya said, “Preliminary investigation has been started and it is being ascertained from which platform the fake card was created and from which account it was first shared.” Police is trying to reach the accused on the basis of digital trail. Police have appealed to the general public to be cautious of any unknown link, digital card or suspicious message, even if it comes from a known or big name. Before clicking on the link, please check its authenticity.
