India vs USA Live Score, T20 WC 2026: Suryakumar Yadav-led India began their title defence with a 29-run win against USA in their opening game of the T20 World Cup 2026 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, February 07. Suryakumar played a captain’s knock of an unbeaten 84 to help India fight back after a batting collapse, while the bowlers produced an excellent combined effort to keep USA at bay.
Asked to bat first, India got off to a poor start, losing in-form Abhishek Sharma on a duck. Shadley van Schalkwyk dismissed Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma and Shivam Dube in the same over to leave the hosts reeling at 46/4 inside the Powerplay. Rinku Singh (6) and Hardik Pandya (5) too departed cheaply as India found themselves in a spot of bother at 77/6.
Suryakumar helped the hosts stage a fightback with a valiant half-century under pressure. He combined with Axar Patel (14) to share a crucial 41-run stand for the 7th wicket and remained unbeaten till the end to take the hosts to 161/9 in 20 overs. Suryakumar’s 84 was laced with 10 fours and four sixes.
In reply, USA got off to a shaky start, losing three wickets in the first four overs as Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj wreaked havoc with the new ball. They failed to recover despite valuable knocks from Milind Kumar (34), Sanjay Krishnamurthi (37) and Shubham Ranjane (37) and were eventually restricted to 132/8 in 20 overs. Siraj and Arshdeep picked up five wickets between them to help India secure a comfortable victory.
