A Pakistani court sentenced former Prime Minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi to 17 years in prison in the Tosakhana case. Imran jailed since August 2023. There are several cases against him. Recently Imran’s party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has claimed that he is in serious health crisis in jail. He is not receiving proper treatment in critical condition. If this continues, he may become blind forever.

It is to be noted that while he was the prime minister, it is alleged that Imran has sold the gifts received from various heads of state for a huge amount of money without depositing them in the government treasury. According to Pakistani law, all the gifts given by various heads of state are deposited in the Pakistani treasury. Earlier, Imran was accused of selling toshakhana goods. Political opponents have also come against him several times. Now he and his wife were sentenced to 17 years in prison in that case.

Imran’s wife was present in the court during the hearing. He had earlier termed the allegations against him as ‘malicious, politically motivated and false’.

Earlier, Imran and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 409 (offense of breach of trust) of the Pakistan Penal Code and seven years under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. It was reported during the sentencing that day, taking into account Imran’s old age and Bushra being a woman, the sentence was reduced with a lenient approach. Imran’s wife was present in the court during the hearing. He had earlier termed the allegations against him as ‘malicious, politically motivated and false’.

It should be noted that Imran was arrested in the Tosakhana case on August 5, 2023. He was first settled in Ottok Jail in Punjab province. From there he was transferred to Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi. He is imprisoned in this jail for the last 3 years. Not only Imran but also other members of his family are being harassed. In total, more than 200 cases are pending against Imran. However, the Tehreek-e-Insaf leader claimed that he was kept behind bars due to a political conspiracy. Meanwhile, according to PTI’s claim, the medical report revealed that Imran Khan has central retinal vein occlusion in his right eye. Which is very dangerous. This results in blockage of the eye veins. Doctors have warned that if the disease is not treated quickly and properly, he may lose his sight forever. Despite knowing everything, the jail authorities are playing with Imran Khan’s physical crisis.
