Lewis Hamilton may have broken one of his previously imposed golden rules if reports that he's romantically involved with Kim Kardashian are true. The Formula One star sent tongues wagging when rumours that he was dating the reality TV star and businesswoman surfaced over the weekend.

It's claimed by The Sun that Hamilton and Kardashian enjoyed a romantic weekend away at Estelle Manor in Oxfordshire, with the pair said to have racked up a bill over £120,000. However, if Hamilton is courting the mum of four, it would represent a significant shift in approach for the seven-time world champion.

That's because in an interview with RTBF last year, Hamilton said he's taking himself off the dating market and is instead focusing on his racing career. He remarked: "I look at the other drivers and I wonder how they're doing it.

"Some are having kids, some married, most of them have girlfriends. I did that when I was in my 20s, but I took a decision to really maximise the time that I have here because it's not as long as you think and it's limited. 'I don't wanna look back and be like 'If I just gave a little bit more here, I didn't sacrifice my time because I was committed elsewhere."

He continued: "I really focused in these last... particularly these last 10 years, get everything I can out of my performance, then when I retire, I can do whatever I want. I can dedicate my time to whatever else it is and not have to worry, but in this competition time, focus on health, well-being, my mental health, my driving technique, being as good an engineer as I can be, and also being the best teammate I can potentially be."

Hamilton has had a busy time of it of late, having recently started pre-season testing for the new Formula One season. He had set the fastest time of the week in Barcelona, clocking a 1:16.554 in the dying minutes of Friday's final session.

It comes after Hamilton endured the worst racing season of his career in his debut year with Ferrari, losing the head-to-head battle 18-3 with team-mate Charles Leclerc. On the new Ferrari car, he explained: "It's been a really enjoyable week, honestly. I think a huge amount of work over the winter on my side, personal side, but then what the team have done over the winter to make changes going into the test."
