Modasa Celebrates Khilan Patel's ICC U-19 World Cup Victory with Grand Welcome

On Monday, cricket fans and well-wishers gathered in large numbers in Modasa, located in Gujarat's Aravalli district, to honor Khilan Patel following his triumph at the ICC Under-19 World Cup. A spectacular three-kilometer roadshow was organized, stretching from Kisan Circle to Umiya Temple, where hundreds lined the streets to catch a glimpse of the young cricketer.

The celebration in Modasa was vibrant, with supporters waving flags, setting off fireworks, and playing patriotic songs in honor of Patel's achievement with the Indian Under-19 team.


'Feeling Very Good': Patel and Family Share Their Joy

In an interview, Khilan Patel expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception from the local community. He stated, "I played in the World Cup, and winning the title makes me feel very good. The people's welcome brings me joy. My entire family is thrilled; they gave me a grand reception. I want to thank the people of Aravalli."


Patel, a left-arm orthodox spinner, took nine wickets across seven innings during the tournament.


Family's Pride and Hard Work

His father, Anil Kumar, shared his emotions, reflecting on the challenges faced during Khilan's journey. He remarked, "Khilan has returned after winning the World Cup, and the people of Aravalli have shown their love through this roadshow. We are overjoyed. He has worked hard alongside us to achieve this success."


Khilan's mother added, "We are very happy. The welcome in Modasa was overwhelming, and everyone participated in the roadshow. He is not just our son; he is a son of Modasa, Aravalli. The joy is shared by all."


India's U-19 World Cup Victory Recap

India secured their sixth U19 World Cup title, extending their record, by defeating England by 100 runs in a thrilling final held at Harare Sports Club in Zimbabwe on February 6.


Choosing to bat first, India scored 411/9, led by opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's stunning 175 runs off just 80 balls. Contributions from Mhatre (53 off 51 balls) and Abhigyan Kundu (40 off 31 balls) helped set a formidable total.


Despite Caleb Falconer's impressive 115 runs off 67 balls, England was bowled out for 311 runs.


Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was named Player of the Match and also received the Player of the Tournament award.
