A building collapsed at a construction site in Kota, Rajasthan, killing two people and injuring more than a dozen others.
Kota Medical College Principal Sangeeta Saxena confirmed that 10 people were brought to the hospital. Two were declared dead, while two remain admitted with minor injuries. Three others received treatment and were discharged. A rescue team member also suffered the loss of the distal phalanx of his right ring finger, but remains stable and will undergo plastic surgery.
Officials reported that at least 13 people sustained injuries in the incident. Kota Divisional Commissioner Anil Kumar Agrawal said the structure collapsed from top to bottom and suggested negligence in construction quality as a possible cause. He added that drilling activity had raised complaints from local residents. Technical investigations are underway to determine the exact reasons.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota MP Om Birla expressed grief and assured that he is in constant contact with district authorities. He directed officials, including the District Collector, to expedite relief and rescue operations. Birla also instructed authorities to provide timely medical treatment to the injured and extended prayers for their recovery.
