The bail plea of ​​Kuldeep Sengar, convicted in the case of custodial death of Unnao rape victim's father, will be heard in the Supreme Court. Sengar is serving a 10-year sentence in this case and has appealed after his bail was rejected by the High Court.

New Delhi: The bail plea of ​​Kuldeep Singh Sengar, convicted in the case of custodial death of Unnao rape case victim's father, will be heard in the Supreme Court today. A bench headed by the Chief Justice will hear this petition. This appeal is against the rejection of bail by the High Court. Sengar is serving a 10-year jail sentence in this case. While hearing the case on January 19, the Delhi High Court had refused to stay Sengar's 10-year jail sentence.

On March 13, 2020, the lower court had sentenced Sengar to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 10 lakh in this case. In this case, Sengar is accused of conspiring against the rape victim's father and causing her death in custody. Apart from this, Sengar has also been sentenced to life imprisonment in the rape case. Although the Delhi High Court had granted bail by suspending that sentence on December 23, 2025, but on December 29, 2025, the Supreme Court had stayed that order.
