New Delhi: Jammu and Kashmir defeated Madhya Pradesh to carve domestic cricket history while KL Rahul hit his 24th first-class ton to lift Karnataka above Mumbai into the Ranji Trophy semi-finals on Monday.
Seamer Auqib Nabi’s match-winning 12 wickets (7/40 and 5/70) in the match set up J&K’s 56‑run victory at the Holkar Stadium, Indore, that enabaled them to enter the last four for the first time.
J&K made 194 and 248 while MP managed 152 and 234 to progress to the semis after four previous failed attempts.
In Mumbai, Rahul anchored Karnataka’s four-wicket victory over the record 42-time champions at the Mumbai Cricket Association Bandra Kurla Complex.
Rahul’s 130 off 182 balls, including 14 boundaries and a six, helped Karnataka chase down a stiff 325-run target in the fourth innings.
Rahul put together a game-changing partnership of 147 runs for the fourth wicket with Smaran, who remained unbeaten on 83 off 123 ball (11 fours).
